Akshay Khanna and Salla Sariola in conversation after Dallas Buyers Club

The Public Health Film Festival kicked off this year with the Academy Awarding winning film Dallas Buyers Club, followed by reflections on the film by Akshay Khanna, a human rights lawyer and queer activist along with Salla Sariola, a researcher from the Global Health Bioethics Network. They touched upon the ideas of queer identity in the film and its continuing importance in the modern political discourse in the western world as well as in developing countries like India. They was talked about messages the film had to say about activism and they were joined by Sarah Gayton from Sea of Change who highlighted the increasing use of film for health-related activism.
